HOW THE EVENT PLANNING IDEA CAME UP
As soon as I arrived in the USA, my first occupation was as a server in a popular Restaurant in Georgetown, Washington Dc, where lots of celebrities used to go, and many events used to take place. The perfect location to see and be seen, and I was shocked to notice the customers’ money for dining.
After having served a young couple seated at a small table posted in the corner of a busy room, the guy stopped me and said:
We want to thank you for this beautiful Experience!
I thanked them and started thinking: this lovely couple had a pretty good meal, with a good wine bottle, sitting on a tiny table over a small corner, while bussers, waiters, runners, and managers were running over trying to maintain a smooth service. All for about $500 bucks! And they called it a great experience?
My answer would be:
Sir, would you love to have a fabulous experience? Well, let me build it all around you!
TRYING TO CREATE A UNIQUE CONCEPT…
In the event planning industry, too often, I had the feeling that something was missing. How often did I see event attendees create small groups all over the venue and other attendees sitting alone around a table waiting for something to happen?
As an event planner, I would love to see anybody gathering together or not seeing people bored if unable to socialize.
Based on these feelings, my priority was to recreate a situation where attendees could enjoy an experience and mingle with each other most of the time.
For a long, I had a blurry vision in combining performing art, hospitality and event planning, which are my most relevant past experiences, and little by little, I came up with an idea.
ALL AROUND THE STORYLINE
The concept is developed all-around a storyline and includes several other features that mainly engage the guests with a show and leave them free to gather together.
I call it a fully immersive experience based on historical themes.
The storyline spans from a historical point to another and unfolds as a “living documentary” performed by Actors on the stage.
Of course, it doesn’t sound effortless, but still doable, although the organization should be impeccable. The main idea is to connect a sit-down dinner, a show, and at the end, leave the guest free to drink and dance with a live DJ. After considerable research, I did not see any idea this way in the event planning industry.
AN IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE IN A ALL-IN-ONE LOCATION
Our concept differs from dinner theatre and theatre itself, where spectators enjoy the show without interacting with others, experiencing a dinner, an exhibition and a live dance.
To make this Experience immersive, the primary issue to be solved is determining the right location, which must be an open space venue without columns or obstruction, and better if as a circular shape.
Five features will recreate this concept:
- Storyline
- Sit Down Dinner
- Soundtrack
- Mapping Projection
- Dj Live
It’s time now to combine these features recreating something that, according to my research, has never been developed so far.
Creating an immersive experience based on a show means building a specific and robust event timeline and designing an environment that doesn’t leave any detail to chance.
Another important consideration is to cut the cost as much as possible because combining five features sound pretty expensive.
